James J. Baran, MD graduated with a Doctor of Medicine degree from Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1990, Dr. Baran completed his Residency in General Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Upon completion of his Residency in Colon and Rectal Surgery at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - Robert Woods Johnson Affiliated Hospitals in 1991, he became a partner with Colo-Rectal Associates in Monroeville, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Baran is board certified by the American Board of Colon & Rectal Surgeons. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons. He was also a past president of the Pennsylvania Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons from 2005 - 2006.

What is a Colon and Rectal Surgeon?
